Members of the crowd applaud for the service of local residents during the Proclamation Ceremony for Marine Week Cleveland June 11, 2012. The ceremony marked the official beginning of events that will run from June 11-17. Cleveland Mayor Frank G. Jackson presented Lt. Gen. Steven A. Hummer, commander of Marine Forces Reserve and Marine Forces North, with the Marine Week proclamation and officially welcomed the Marines to the city. More than 750 Marines will be in Cleveland all week displaying Marine aircraft, vehicles and equipment, as well as interacting with and educating the public on the values and character of the Marine Corps. One of the culminating events will be a Marine Air Ground Task Force demonstration, which showcases Marines' ability to assault from ship-to-shore via ground and air, June 16-17 at Burke Lakefront Airport.
