A U.S. Navy warship, identifiable as an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer, is firing its forward 5-inch (127mm) Mk 45 naval gun during what appears to be a live-fire exercise at sea. A large plume of gray-white gun smoke is visible at the muzzle, captured at the moment of discharge. The vessel is underway on open blue ocean under partly cloudy skies.
