    Staff Sgt. Onassiss Melton, the noncommissioned officer in charge of the 23rd Quartermaster Brigade’s Direct Support to the Training Exercise section, is responsible for operating and facilitating the QM School’s culminating field training exercise. The Soldier of nearly 10 years was shot July 25 in an attempted carjacking. The combat veteran who previously served with the 3rd Ranger Battalion, 75th Regiment, Fort Benning, Ga., said he is confounded by surviving battle injuries overseas but almost losing his life at home while driving to his residence.
