U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Cameron J. Rider, a radio operator with Combat Logistics Regiment 1, 1st Marine Logistics Group, establishes satellite communication with the combat operations center using a distributed tactical communications system in 29 Palms, California, Dec. 8th, 2019, during exercise Steel Knight. Steel Knight is an annual exercise that spans the western United States and California coast. It focuses on command and control capabilities, ground fires and maneuver warfare tactics, while testing Marines and sailors across a range of environments and preparing to counter aggression against a near-peer threat.
