The 1-227th Attack Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Air Cavalry Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, Task Force Attack, held a Nov. 22, 2019, memorial service at Erbil Air Base, Iraq, for two of their pilots killed in Afghanistan. U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officers David C. Knadle from Tarrant, Texas, and Kirk T. Fuchigami from Keaau, Hawaii, died Nov. 20, 2019, in Logar Province when their helicopter crashed while providing security for troops on the ground. The unit is based in Fort Hood, Texas.
