Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and The Honorable David L. Norquist, Deputy Secretary of Defense, pose with and the Praznik-Lodge family prior to dedication of the USSTRATCOM Command and Control Facility (C2F) at Offutt Air Force Base, Neb., Nov. 18, 2019. The C2F was dedicated to the Praznik-Lodge family’s grandfather, Gen. Curtis E. LeMay, who commanded Strategic Air Command (precursor to USSTRATCOM) from 1948 – 1957 and established its headquarters at Offutt AFB. This central location became the nerve center of a world-wide bomber-missile force. The C2F is a weapons system and the heart of the nuclear command, control and communications enterprise and which replaces USSTRATCOM’s old headquarters building. (U.S. Air Force photo by Master Sgt.
