2nd Lt. Elena Chavez, an infantry officer from Kansas City, Missouri, assigned to Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 17th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, shoulders her ruck one last time after successfully completing the last Expert Infantryman Badge test at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, Oct. 31, 2019. “The EIB shows my Soldiers I’m proficient in my warrior tasks,” Chavez said, adding that she looks forward to returning to her platoon and “being there for my guys and getting to know them, so we can start training again.”
