Jana Slyder, an 81st Readiness Division spouse, uses explosive movement to leap over a box at Cottontown CrossFit in Columbia, South Carolina Oct. 11. During training for the CrossFit games Slyder said she did a lot of research to build mental toughness, as she had to do much of her training alone for multiple hours, often taking her to a “dark place” while trying build her strength and capacity.
