Today, October, 23, the 155th Air Refueling Wing members observed “Purple Thursday”, by wearing purple in support of the Nebraska National Guards’ stand against Domestic Violence.
Domestic Violence Awareness Month evolved from the first Day of Unity observed in October, 1981, by the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. The key focus of the day include; mourning those who have died because of domestic violence, celebrating those who have survived and connecting those who work to end domestic violence. We must bring awareness to this problem and eliminate the stigma that dissuades victims from seeing assistance.
