Combat team tests tanks for the first time following armor conversion

Sgt. 1st Class Carlton Robinson, armored crewman and range safety officer with 6th Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, clears an M1A2 Abrams Main Battle Tank before it fires a round for the first time at Fort Bliss, Texas, Oct. 18, during a live-fire accuracy screening test. The Ready First Brigade converted from a Stryker to an armored brigade on June 20 as part of the Army’s strategic focus to counter the threat of near-peer adversaries.

“We are doing this to make sure that the tanks can shoot accurately and hit a target from a specific range, which is 1,500 meters,” said Robinson.
