NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (Oct. 20, 2019) Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Equipment) 3rd Class Michael Samuel, from Phoenix, assigned to USS Gerald R. Ford's (CVN 78) air department, loosens bolts on a hatch in the ship's advanced arresting gear machinery room. Ford's air department installed the ship's arresting gear cables for the first time in 15 months since undergoing their post-shakedown availability.
