The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Michael Murphy (DDG 112) fires rounds from its 5-inch gun while underway conducting its Mid-Cycle Inspection (MCI). From Oct. 9-10, Michael Murphy conducted its MCI, an inspection that takes place every two to three years. The inspection is set in place to bridge the gap between the Board of Inspection and Survey (INSURV) and is used to inspect and assess the material condition of a ship.
