Spc. Javier Martinez, an automatic rifleman in 2nd Platoon, Company A, 1st Battalion, 35th Armor Regiment, 2nd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, scans the terrain intently for enemies in order to provide security for the rest of his unit during a battalion-sized mission simulating battlefield conditions at White Sands Missile Range, N.M., May 12, 2012. During the mission, soldiers bounded to objectives, in which one set of Soldiers hold in place and provide security while another group moves forward.
