A photo of the Madingley American Cemetery (Cambridge, England) grave site of 2nd Lt. Gustav D. Kjosness, 572nd Bomb Squadron, U.S. Army Air Forces, who was killed while performing a bombing mission against enemy ground targets June 6, 1944. Kjosness, a B-26 Marauder bombardier, died while paving the success for the Normandy, France, landings, and was posthumously awarded the Distinguished Service Cross, the second highest award in the U.S. Army, equal to the Air Force Cross.
