Cardeno, a native of Pampanga, Philippines, is a training officer with 960th Air and Missile Defense Group. Rana, a native of Pleasantville, N.Y., is a detachment officer in charge with 3rd Low Altitude Air Defense Battalion. KAMANDAG 3 is a Philippine-led, bilateral exercise with participation from Japan. KAMANDAG is an acronym for the Filipino phrase “Kaagapay Ng Mga Manirigma Ng Dagat,” which translates to “Cooperation of the Warriors of the Sea,” highlighting the partnership between the U.S. and Philippine militaries.
