Nicholas Spore, a research civil engineer with the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center’s Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory’s Field Research Facility, positions equipment along a pier in Duck, North Carolina, Sept. 4, 2019, as part of the During Nearshore Event Experiment pilot study now underway along the Outer Banks. DUNEX is a multi-agency, academic and non-governmental organization collaborative community experiment to study nearshore coastal processes during coastal storms.
