190911-N-N0701-0001 ATLANTIC OCEAN (Sept. 11, 2019) Dolphins ride the bow waves of a U.S. Navy replenishment ship during a lookout effectiveness study. The study evaluates the effectiveness of U.S. Navy lookout watchstanders, who are the primary means to identify and log the presence of marine species on the sea surface. The Navy, as required by environmental permits, mitigates the potential environmental effects of its activities without jeopardizing the safety of its Sailors or impacting mission readiness.
