Participants of the second annual Bee Line Foot March prepare their gear Sept. 21, 2019, prior to ruck marching 20.1 miles from Morgantown to Fairmont, W.Va. The Bee Line Foot March represents the history and lineage of the West Virginia National Guard, which traces its roots back to the formation of the Continental Army in 1775 and the “Beeline march to Cambridge”. The 1st Battalion, 201st Field Artillery Regiment held their 2nd Annual Bee Line Foot March on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019, along the XX rail trail between Morgantown and Fairmont, West Virginia.

The 20.1 mile foot march commemorates the more than 600 mile "Beeline March" to Cambridge in 1775 by Virginia militiamen, to which the West Virginia National Guard, specifically the 1st Battalion, 201st Field Artillery Regiment, traces its lineage.

Participants - including West Virginia National Guard members from many units as well as veterans and civilians - walked the 20 miles with a 35 pound ruck sack. The event concluded with food and games for marchers and family at the Fairmont Armory, home of the 201st.
