Brian Beasley briefs Dr. Steven Walker, director, Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, and Dr. Peter Highnam, deputy director, DARPA, on hangar bay operations and capabilities aboard the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) during a ship familiarization tour. DARPA requested to visit Kearsarge to better understand Navy and Marine Corps integration with an emphasis on amphibious ship-to-shore transportation of Marines and their equipment, and unit defense capabilities.
