U.S. Army Soldiers of Bravo Battery, 5th Battalion 3rd Field Artillery stand alongside the Soldiers of the Western Army Field Artillery of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force after the planning efforts of a bilateral live fire exercise in support of Orient Shield 2019 at Yausubetsu Training Area, Japan, Sept. 16. Bravo Battery deployed the HIMARS to Japan for the first time in support of Orient Shield 2019. Orient Shield is a bilateral exercise where ideas, techniques, military experiences are shared in order to strengthen military operations, trust and friendship between U.S. forces and the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force.
