    Arctic Expeditionary Capabilities Exercise (AECE)

190917-N-ER806-1054 PACIFIC OCEAN (Sept. 17, 2019)– Sailors from Amphibious Construction Battalion (ACB) 1 participate in Offshore Petroleum Discharge System (OPDS) operations for the Arctic Expeditionary Capabilities Exercise (AECE) 2019, Sept. 17. To demonstrate the OPDS capability, which contributes to the Navy's Defense Support to Civil Authorities mission, SS Petersburg will be transferring salt water for the duration of the exercise. Approximately 3,000 U.S. Navy and Marine Corps personnel are participating in AECE 2019, a joint training exercise that tests expeditionary logistical capabilities in the Arctic region and prepares joint forces to respond to crises across the Indo-Pacific.
