Specialist Tischa Lynn Gatten, right, 63rd Engineer Company of the 1st Corps Support Command, along with three other members of the color guard. They formed up in front of the New York City Sheraton for the New York Bicentennial Parade held on the Fourth of July, 1975. Against the wishes of many men in her unit, and on post, Gatten, a Fayetteville N.C. resident, had the support of her commander to change Army history.
