Soldiers from the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force bound toward their objective while doing a mounting exercise during Rising Thunder 19 at Yakima Training Center, Yakima, Washington, Sept. 5.
The training was conducted along with Soldiers from D Company, 2nd Battalion, 130th Infantry Regiment, Illinois Army National Guard, to enhance lethal capabilities of their combined force as well as develop military relations.
The execution of the mission prioritized safety, which required proper coordination between the U.S. and Japanese troops and repeated rehearsals. These measures contributed strongly to the success of the training.
