Sailors from Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit One (MDSU 1) explain diving equipment to school children on the island of Adak, Alaska, during Arctic Expeditionary Capability Exercise 2019. MDSU 1 was in Adak dismantling the F/V Heritage, an abandoned vessel that has blocked the island's small boat ramp for over 15 years. MDSU 1 is the U.S. Navy's premier diving and salvage force, prepared to rapidly deploy combat-ready, expeditionary warfare capable, specialized dive teams to conduct harbor and waterway clearance, emergent underwater repairs, and salvage operations in all environments.
