Maj. Gen. Richard Kaiser, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Deputy Commanding General and U.S. Army Deputy Chief of Engineers, participates in a telephonic briefing with teammates across USACE Sept. 1, 2019, to review the latest information on Hurricane Dorian in Washington, D.C., which is now a Category 5 system. USACE is mobilizing resources to four states: Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina, where it has received mission assignments from the Federal Emergency Management Agency for temporary power and regional activation. USACE has deployed a flood-fight team and a temporary roofing team to Florida. In addition, USACE has deployed Emergency Support Function #3 (Public Works and Engineering) team leaders and assistant team leaders; command and control vehicles to assist with communication capabilities; subject matter experts in debris, infrastructure assessment, and critical public facilities; and a temporary emergency power planning and response team to include soldiers from the 249th Engineer Battalion (Prime Power). USACE is slated to deploy ESF #3 team leaders and assistant team leaders, as well as subject matter experts in debris, infrastructure assessment, temporary roofing, temporary power and critical public facilities to Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina.
