First class petty officers selected for chief petty officer fold a flag during a ceremony aboard USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) for the Battle of Leyte Gulf. Seaman Tia Tozzolo, an aviation electrician's mate, top left, accepted the flag on behalf of her grandfather, William Winn, a former Seabee who fought in the battle. Kitty Hawk transited through the area in which the Battle of Leyte Gulf was fought more than 60 years ago. Kitty Hawk is entering its third month of a summer deployment from Fleet Activities Yokosuka, Japan.
