Rob Marshall stand-up paddleboards with Outdoor Adventure Program staff members out of Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, Aug. 20, 2019, at nearby Portage Lake in Anchorage, Alaska. Marshall, as the deputy chief of the Research and Scholarship Division at the Center for Character and Leadership Development at the U.S. Air Force Academy, visited JBER to advocate for the use of adventure- and experiental-based learning in resiliency efforts.He encouraged the OAP employees to make emotional intelligence conversations a part of the recreational programs they offer to help service members with resiliency.
