Using a modified arm-bar technique derived from the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program, Jennifer J. Rosen, a Marine spouse, makes sure Cpl. Christopher A. Terrell, the assistant family readiness officer for Marine Forces Europe and Africa, has no chance to cause her any more harm while practicing a simulated assault during a rape prevention and self defense class at Marine Forces Europe headquarters. The class, provided by the MARFOREUR Family Readiness Office, taught techniques from the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program that have been modified specifically for females, such as moves effective for height and weight differences, but also emphasized the importance of situational awareness, risk prevention and developing an offensive and protective mentality.
