YOKOSUKA, Japan (August 21, 2019) Operations Specialist 2nd Class Karlton Rembert, from Columbus, Ohio, is the first member of his family to join the U.S. Navy. “When I joined, it was a big thing for my family, because they’ve never actually had somebody go active,” he explained. He is currently assigned to Commander, Submarine Group 7, as one of only four operations specialists who man a rotational watch. “The good thing is, you learn to work independently," he said. "You learn how to troubleshoot, problem solve, and figure things out on your own!” (U.S. Navy photo by Mass Communication Specialist 2nd Class Luke McCall)
