    Marine Corps Recruiting Command           

    Second lieutenants Andrew Ward, Phillip Haly, Taylor Roberson and Jeiny Gutierrez ,Marines with Fifth Platoon, Delta Company, The Basic School prepare to load onto an MV-22B Osprey with Marine Helicopter Squadron 1, July 24. During TBS students are able to utilize air assets like Ospreys to give them real world experience of how to properly utilize such resources prior to leading Marines in non training environments. The Basic School is an eight month long course designed to train and educate newly commissioned or appointed officers in the high standards of professional knowledge, esprit-de-corps, and leadership to prepare them for duty as company grade officers in the Marine Corps. The course puts particular emphasis on the duties, responsibilities, and warfighting skills required of a rifle platoon commander, regardless of job the officer may have in the Marine Corps.
