Army Lt. Col Marci Sam becomes the first Maryland National Guard judge on Aug. 20, 2019, during an Investiture Ceremony at the historic 5th Regiment Armory in Baltimore, Maryland.
The ceremony consisted of convening a court and robing Sam. She joined the MDNG in 2012 after serving over a decade in the active Army and the Army Reserve. Sam served as a legal officer for the 29th Infantry Division Detachment then the command judge advocate for the 58th Expeditionary Military Intelligence Brigade before being nominated to become the first Maryland military judge.
