U.S. Senator Thom Tillis of North Carolina gives his remarks during a town hall meeting at Marston Pavilion on Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Aug. 15. The purpose of the meeting was for him to hear concerns from base residents about living conditions in privatized housing.
“I view military housing as a readiness issue,” said Tillis. “If you have that personal distraction of worrying about the health and safety of your family, you cannot be fully focused on what you rightfully should be – the mission.”
Tillis expressed his concerns for the lingering issues many service members and their families are still enduring almost a year after Hurricane Florence. He advised families to contact his office if they are not being assisted in a timely manner. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Ginnie Lee)
