    169th Fighter Wing

A South Carolina Air National Guard F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jet, assigned to the 169th Fighter Wing, McEntire Joint National Guard Base, S.C. and a World War II era P-51 Mustang team up to celebrate their aviation history by flying together near South Carolina landmarks, Fort Sumter and USS Yorktown (CV 5), August 10, 2019. The 169 FW is proud of its 70-plus years as a single-seat fighter unit and its namesake, South Carolina American Revolutionary War hero General Francis “the Swamp Fox” Marion. The P-51 Mustang bears the name “Swamp Fox.” The P-51, owned and operated by R.T. Dickson, was once assigned to the Kentucky Air National Guard from 1947 to 1953.
