U.S. Army Specialist Nathan Creel, an animal care specialist assigned to the Charleston Veterinary Treatment Facility, Joint Base Charleston, S.C., treats a military working dog at Ali al Salem Air Base, Kuwait, July, 2015. Creel has been in the U.S. Army since June 18, 2013 and has been stationed at JB Charleston, SC, since 2016. Creel is one of over 19,000 Native Americans who serve under the Department of Defense. According to the 2011 National Military Strategy, the challenges the military faces requires a Joint Force that is flexible, agile and adaptive. This recognizes the unique character and diversity of our service members as a formidable advantage. (Courtesy Photo)
