Lance Cpl. Heather Armstrong, from Durant, Okla., landing support specialist, Combat Logistics Battalion 4, 1st Marine Logistics Group (Forward), watches a CH-53E Super Stallion take off with 9,000-pounds of supplies underneath, April 24, 2012. Armstrong helped latch the supplies to the hook, as the helicopter hovered 10 feet off the ground. The CH-53, from Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 466, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing (Forward), flew the resupply of ammunition, food, and water to Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, who are fighting in the mountains of Helmand province. For Marines in remote locations, resupplies by air are faster, safer and easier than by ground.
