190801-N-WI365-1005 CORAL SEA (August 01, 2019) – Ensign Kristofer Misch, from St. Louis, Missouri, utilizes a rangefinder as the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force amphibious transport dock ship JS Kunisaki (LST 4003) sails alongside the amphibious dock landing ship USS Ashland (LSD 48). Ashland, part of the Wasp Amphibious Ready Group, with embarked 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, is operating in the Indo-Pacific region to enhance interoperability with partners and serve as a ready-response force for any type of contingency.
