U.S. Army Spc. Jamal McFadden, a motor transport operator assigned to the Forward Sustainment Company, 204th Engineer Battalion, New York Army National Guard, uses a circular saw to cut a board that will be used for framing during an Innovative Readiness Training (IRT) mission at Camp Paumalu, Haleiwa, HI, July 31, 2019. Engineers from the Air Force, Air National Guard, and the Marine Corps have been working at the camp since May to help build a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) activity center. The IRT is a joint service program that provides real-world training opportunities for the U.S. military’s Reserves and National Guard service members to prepare them for wartime missions while supporting the needs of America’s underserved communities.
