    Exercise Balikatan       

    U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. Travis A. Shaw, a pararescueman from the 31st Rescue Squadron, shares rescue extraction techniques with Philippine Airman 1st Class Prime Rosaroso Jr., a Philippine Air Force pararescueman from the 505th Rescue Squadron, Aug. 18, at a field exercise training here during Balikatan 2012. U.S. Airmen with backgrounds in life support, survival evasion resistance escape and combat rescue shared their knowledge, and also learned how Philippine service members train in their own environment. Balikatan is an annual Republic of the Philippines-U.S. military exercise focusing on field training, humanitarian assistance and a command post exercise. Balikatan increases our armed forces’ ability to respond quickly and work together efficiently to provide relief and assistance in the event of natural disasters and other crises.
