QUEENSLAND, Australia -- Early in the morning on July 14, 2019, Command Sgt. Maj. Doug Heston, the Command Sergeant Major for 1st Battalion 27th Infantry Regiment, briefs his Soldiers at the McLachlan assembly area in Shoalwater Bay Training Area during Exercise Hamel, an exercise taking place during Exercise Talisman Saber. Exercises like Talisman Saber provides effective and intense training to ensure U.S. and Australian forces are capable, interoperable, deployable on short notice and combat-ready.
