An ion scanner is a device used to scan 10 percent of Holloman AFB official incoming mail for explosives that could possibly be hidden in packages. The Official Mail Center and Military Postal Operations is made up of civilian contractors who handle the mail for dorm residents and units at Holloman AFB.
