Sgt. Lazaro Perez, a native of Miami who serves as a infantryman with the 1st Squadron, 89th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, stand proudly as he displays his Soldier's Medal that he was awarded during an awards ceremony on Camp Striker, Iraq Sept. 8, 2008. Perez was awarded the Soldier's Medal for risking his own life to save an Iraqi from a burning vehicle in the Zaidon, Radwaniyah Corridor, just southwest of Baghdad, June 22.
