Andy Lan, a rising senior from Highland Park High School in Highland Park, New Jersey, and Amber Schraufnagel, a rising senior from Mayville High School in Mayville, Wisconsin, are recognized as the All-Americans of the Year and awarded $20,000 scholarship during the Battles Won Academy in Washington, D.C., July 14, 2019. The Battles Won Academy is a part of the Marine Corps’ Semper Fidelis All-American Program, which recognizes young men and women who excel in athletics, but have also shown themselves to be leaders in the classroom and in their communities. Nearly 100 high school student-athletes were selected to attend the academy, which runs through July 14 and focuses on developing their self-confidence, discipline, teamwork, and honing the fighting spirit that embodies the Marine Corps.
