A North Carolina Air National Guardsmen with the 145th Airlift Wing, unloads equipment from their unit’s C-17 on the air strip at the Botswana Defense Force’s Thebephatshwa Air Base in Botswana on July 10, 2019. More than 170 Army and Air Guardsmen from North Carolina, Alabama and New Jersey traveled to Botswana to participate in Upward Minuteman 2019, a U.S. Africa Command exercise promoting the U.S. National Guard’s State Partnership Programs on the African Continent.
