The image shows a naval formation of multiple military vessels underway on open blue ocean under partly cloudy skies. At least four ships are visible, including what appears to be a large amphibious assault ship or aircraft carrier on the right, a combat stores or replenishment ship in the center foreground, and additional vessels to the left. The ships appear to be operating in a coordinated group, consistent with a carrier strike group or expeditionary strike group formation.

190709-N-DX072-1228 TASMAN SEA (July 9, 2019) The Military Sealift Command fleet replenishment oiler USNS Rappahannock (T-AO 204), the dry cargo and ammunition ship USNS Richard E. Byrd (T-AKE 4), the amphibious dock landing ship USS Ashland (LSD 48), and the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1) transit together during a replenishment-at-sea. Wasp, flagship, Green Bay and Ashland, part of the Wasp Amphibious Ready Group, with embarked 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, is currently participating in Talisman Sabre 2019 off the coast of Northern Australia. A bilateral, biennial event, Talisman Sabre is designed to improve U.S. and Australian combat training, readiness and interoperability through realistic, relevant training necessary to maintain regional security, peace and stability.
