Harold Williams of Chicago, a Soldier with the Illinois Army National Guard's 1st Battalion, 178th Infantry Regiment, talks with James Connelly, a veteran with American Legion Post 488 based in Riverside at the Chicago Military Academy reception following the Victory Monument re-dedication on July 5. The monument honors the World War I service of the Illinois National Guard's famed all African-American 8th Infantry Regiment. The 1-178th Infantry, which is slated to deploy to Afghanistan later this month, holds the lineage of the 8th Infantry.
