USNS Comfort conducts medical evacuation drill

190703-N-IA905-1052 MANTA, Ecuador (July 3, 2019) Naval Aircrewman (Helicopter) 1st Class Peter Lagosh, from Milwaukee, Wis., and Naval Aircrewman (Helicopter) 3rd Class Conor Champagne, from Higganum, Conn., both assigned to the hospital ship USNS Comfort (T-AH 20), retrieve a simulated patient being hoisted to the deck from an MH-60S Seahawk during a medical evacuation drill. Comfort is working with health and government partners in Central America, South America, and the Caribbean to provide care on the ship and at land-based medical sites, helping to relieve pressure on national medical systems strained by an increase in Venezuelan migrants.
