Robert Rainey, a member of the Whiteman Heritage Organization, explains the construction of the CG-4A WACO glider’s wings using a mock-up of it to John Brogden, an airshow attendee from Overland Park, Kansas, during the Wings Over Whiteman airshow on June 15, 2019, at Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri. The glider wing was constructed primarily of plywood to retain its lightweight and was covered with treated fabric to help hold it together. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class Parker J.
