Officer Selection Station Lexington Marine officer candidate Shardonoven Crawford receives the Mameluke sword for his accomplishments while at Officer Candidate School from Maj. Scott Stephan, the commanding officer of Recruiting Station Louisville. Crawford is from Atlanta and scheduled to be commissioned, May 5, as the first African-American Marine officer from Asbury University. The Mameluke sword was donated by retired Marine Corps Maj. John French and presented on behalf of the 4th Marine Corps District.
