Lupine flowers support butterfly habitat at Fort McCoy

Lupine flowers are shown June 6, 2019, on North Post at Fort McCoy, Wis. The flowers are an important food source for the Karner blue butterfly, an endangered species. The butterfly has thrived at Fort McCoy because of the availability of flowering areas for lupines. The areas are available thanks to work completed by post natural resources personnel while partnering with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service as well as the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
