Spc. Iraq Blackledge, a human resources specialist, with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, Area Support Group-Qatar, is one of the three competitors for the 2007 Third Army/U.S. Army Central Soldier of the Year. Blackledge, from Philadelphia, and the two other Soldiers will compete for the title Aug. 27 to 30 at Fort McPherson, Ga. The contest includes common tasks testing, weapons range, day and night land navigation, a written exam and a board appearance. The winner of this competition will head to Fort Lee, Va., in October to compete for the title of the 2007 Department of the Army Soldier of the Year.
